For non-Arabic speakers, understanding the pivotal Arafah sermon has been made easier as Masjidil Haram provides live translations in 20 languages, including Indonesian.

The Role of Ustaz Ahmad Musyaddad Harom

In this grand event, Ustaz Ahmad Musyaddad Harom stands out as a crucial figure. He is responsible for translating the Arafah sermon into Indonesian. Ahmad, who has served as a translator at Masjidil Haram for nine years, will facilitate the understanding of Sheikh Maher Al Muaiqly's sermon for Indonesian pilgrims through FM 96.2 MHz, the Manaralharamain app, or the official website.

The sermon, which Sheikh Maher will deliver from Masjid Namirah, will focus on universal Islamic values such as monotheism, public welfare, and the prevention of harm. Ahmad received and translated the ten-page script days in advance, which he estimates will be read in about 20 minutes. "The essence is the core values of Sharia," Ahmad elaborated.

Ahmad’s Background and Journey

Ahmad’s journey began with his education at the Pondok Pesantren Nurul Hakim in Kediri, Lombok Barat. He furthered his studies at LIPIA Jakarta, an institute affiliated with Al Imam University, Riyadh, where he also pursued his S-2 and S-3 degrees at Universitas Ibnu Khaldun, Bogor. Ahmad joined Masjidil Haram in 2015 after passing a rigorous selection process and training in Riyadh.

Living in Makkah with his second wife and five children, Ahmad balances his professional duties with family life. He founded the educational institution Hashanah Makkah, which has evolved into the School of Muthowif Indonesia (SMI). This institution offers tours for pilgrims, guiding them through historical sites related to Prophet Muhammad’s life.

Significance of Ahmad’s Role

Ahmad’s role is not just a job; it is a mission to convey the profound messages of Islam to a broader audience. "The aim is to ensure the important values from the most revered pulpit are communicated to Muslims and non-Muslims worldwide," Ahmad emphasized. His dedication ensures that even those not present at Arafah can spiritually partake in this significant moment through his translations.

This year, although Ahmad will not perform Hajj 2024, his voice will resonate with the pilgrims at Arafah, translating the words of Sheikh Maher and ensuring that the spiritual and moral guidance of the sermon reaches Indonesian listeners.
